Meditation for Beginners Course Starting 5/20/21

What: ODC invites you to join us in a free, 10-week introduction to the practice of meditation! While meditation has deep roots in Buddhism, this course is intended for anyone who has an interest in learning the basics of meditation and how to bring meditation into your life. The course will follow a text written by Jack Kornfield, a respected and long-time meditation teacher, who also happens to be Buddhist, Meditation for Beginners . The text is a straightforward, step-by-step approach to learning how to use your breath, physical sensations and even difficult thoughts and emotions to create a more stable mind, while bringing kindness and compassion into your life and the lives of others. Topics covered include the benefits of meditation, meditation posture, lovingkindness meditation, forgiveness meditation, walking meditation, and eating meditation, among others. Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation with AudioDharma

AudioDharma will be offering another opportunity to participate in their "Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation" course this  October 30 – December 10, 2016 (Six week course with 5 support sessions).  Registration will open at 5 pm Saturday, September 24.  Links to application forms will appear at that time at:  http://www.insightmeditationcenter.org/programs/online-courses/ When registration opens, you may choose to either audit the course (no personal support) or sign up for 5 weekly personal support sessions by phone, Skype or email with Audiodharma teachers. Those who have previously taken the course may take it again only if space permits. Image text: The Reflective Mind and the Four Noble Truths A Five Week, Practice-Oriented Exploration Based on the Teachings of Ajahn Sumedho An Online, Interactive Course October 13 thru November 14, 2014 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Our reflections will be organized around Ajahn Sumedho's short book,  The Four Noble Truths . It is available online, without cost, in  pdf  or in  HTML  format.  To participate in this course, each week you will be 1) meditating, 2) reading a chapter or article, 3) completing an activity, 4) posting reflections on the discussion forum, and 5) replying to at least one other participant's reflections. Participants will need access to the internet at least twice a week, a free Canvas student learning account , and a commitment to completing the readings, activities and discussions each week. We just received the announcement that the January 2013 Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation course from Insight Meditation Center will open registration on December 4.  This is a great way to find support to begin or deepen your practice!
