From our friends at Insight Meditation South Bay - Registration is now open for our 2017 Sutta Study Course on the Numerical Discourses of the Buddha! The Numerical Discourses of the Buddha (Anguttara Nikaya)  is a remarkably comprehensive collection of discourses from the Pali Canon. Structured according to numbers and lists, this collection includes a full spectrum of dhamma themes that are both relevant to daily life and lead to liberation. Numbered sequences organize this collection. For example, in the Book of The Fours we find many teachings enumerated in four parts: 4 kinds of … four foundations for … four ways to … four types of persons who … four stages of … four factors that support … etc. The numerical structure provides a handy memory aid and teaching device. Every week, Ozarks Dharma Community has the good fortune to hold its Saturday meditations at the  Dinh Quang Buddhist Temple . Help us give back to this Vietnamese Buddhist community by volunteering to clean up their temple and grounds on October 1, 2016. We're looking for 1-2 volunteers to help dust and mop inside and 4 volunteers to mow and trim weeds outside this Saturday, Oct 1. We'll hold our regular 9am meditation sitting that day and then start work after meditation ends (around 10:15am). See you Saturday!

AudioDharma will be offering another opportunity to participate in their "Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation" course this  October 30 – December 10, 2016 (Six week course with 5 support sessions).  Registration will open at 5 pm Saturday, September 24.  Links to application forms will appear at that time at:  http://www.insightmeditationcenter.org/programs/online-courses/ When registration opens, you may choose to either audit the course (no personal support) or sign up for 5 weekly personal support sessions by phone, Skype or email with Audiodharma teachers. Those who have previously taken the course may take it again only if space permits. Mark your calendars - Lunar New Year is coming up and our friends at the Vietnamese temple will be preparing for it and celebrating.  Because there will be lots of activity and noise during this festive time, we will cancel meditation for 2 upcoming Saturdays, February 6 and 13. We will resume meditation on Saturday Feb 20.
