Invitation to the Vietnamese Temple Dedication

We received the invitation to the Official Opening and Blessing Ceremony of the Quan-Am Bodhisattva Statue at the new Dinh Quang Buddhist Temple at 10:00 AM on Sunday September 23rd, 2012.

The invitation explains that:
"The Quan-Am Bodhisattva (in Vietnamese) is the Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva of Compassion, who is mostly known as the resemblance figure of a mother with a great loving heart. He loves everyone, every living being as his own child, no discrimination of any kind. Therefore, in the grand plan of rebuilding and establishing the Dinh Quang Temple, we have completed the establishment of the Quan-Am Bodhisattva Statue in the outdoor Zen garden to represent the great compassion he brings to people at the temple, in the community, and in the world. ...  This event not only endeavors to provide an opportunity for spiritual strengthening but also would celebrate a community symbol for peace and compassion to better the lives of the people in need."

7:30 PM: Lotus Candle Prayer Service for Peace
8:30 PM: Musical entertainment to celebrate the Quan Am Bodhisattva Statue Inauguration

 September 23, 2012: 
9:30 AM: Welcome Venerable of Sanghas to provide a Quan Am Purification Ceremony
11:00 AM: Offering food to Sanghas
2:30 PM: Offering Ancestor Worship
5:00 PM: Program completed

We now offer Open Sit evening meditations on the first and third Thursday each month in 2019. Please note the schedule below is subject to change. The Open Sit is a silent, group meditation with a simple format: between 7-8pm you can come-and-go any time, just do so mindfully and quietly. Join our next Saturday Study on "The Four Noble Truths" - April 21, 2018

We're excited to begin our new Saturday Study series  on The Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path. Saturday Study meetings occur on the 3rd Saturday of every month after our regular 9am meditation. Each Saturday Study meeting will start around 10:15am and last about 45 minutes. Our next Saturday Study is on April 21, 2018. Before coming, please listen to the 45-minute dharma talk, "The Four Noble Truths (Part 7)" by American Buddhist teacher, Upasaka Culadasa  here . We'll delve into The Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path over several months.   Our host church, National Avenue Christian Church, is hosting the National AIDS Memorial Quilt from December 1 through 5, 2021, so all Ozarks Dharma Community events will be moved from the Parlor where we normally meet to the upstairs conference room during those dates.  Please enter through the south door on Portland Street, especially if you are bringing food or drink with you.  You will be turned away from the Gallery entrance if you have food or drink with you because of the AIDS quilt, but you may enter through the south door near the stairs with your refreshments. We will return to our normal location for all events starting Monday, December 6, 2021.
