Opportunites to help at Dinh Quang Buddhist Temple

I visited Dinh Quang Buddhsit Temple this morning, and had a nice chat with Thay and the others. He is planning a big celebration on Sept. 22nd and 23rd to commemorate Quan The Am (Quan Yin), as well as to have a dedication of the statue and the new temple. He is interested in getting performers to come and share their talents, so if any of you are singers or musicians and would be interested in helping out, please let me know. He needs to know soon so that he can put out a flyer with a schedule of events. This will be a way of attracting the general public to come and donate to the temple.

They will also need help starting September 1st to clean and move things around in anticipation of the festivities on the 22nd and 23rd. I would like to schedule a time for those of us in our group to go out there and help. If you're interested, let me know, as well as when you'd be available. Thay said that we could come anytime those first two weeks of September, daytime or evenings. I will get a list together of people who are willing to help, and then we can set a date and time.

I can't wait for you all to see the new temple and the statue outside! It will be really nice to have a real Buddhist temple in Springfield, one that we are welcome to use as a meditation space. Thay told me today that he will tell people who come and are interested in meditation about our group, so that they can learn from us. This new temple will be such a wonderful way to spread the Dhamma and the practice of meditation here in Springfield. We are very fortunate to have been invited by Thay and the Vietnamese community to become involved with the temple. As Thay says, this is not a temple just for the Vietnamese, it is for everyone!
